LARAMIE,
Wyo. (Dec. 6, 2004) - Wyoming-based author Diane Wolverton is the sole
author from the state to be published in a recent anthology, "If
Women Ruled the World: How to Create the World We Want to Live - Stories,
Ideas, and Inspiration for Change" (Inner Ocean Publishing, Nov.
2004). The book includes personal essays from over 75 women worldwide,
along with statistics, quotes, and action items related to family life,
community, and the world. Wolverton's
essay, titled "We'd Form a Society Based on Partnership," recounts
her trip to Asia where she visited the Mosuo People, an indigenous non-Chinese
ethnic minority who live in villages around Lugu Lake in Yunnan Province.
She describes their large matriarchal family structure and their practice
of 'visiting marriage,' in contrast to the traditional institution of
marriage and role of women in American society. Wolverton,
who is the State Director for the Wyoming Small Business Development Centers,
released her first book this year, "The Return of the Yin: A Tale
of Peace and Hope for a Troubled World" (M.O.T.H.E.R. Publishing,
Nov. 2003), which is part fable and part visionary glimpse of a world
transformed by love. ###
